I’ve been wanting to experiment with t-shirt yarn for a while, but hadn’t gotten around to it until this evening. I’ve browsed other shops that make/carry it, watched tutorials on youtube, and brainstormed ideas for what we would make from it…but was reluctant to pick up the scissors. 
At first I found it hard to cut in a straight line, but I’m sure a lot of that had to do with patience. It evened out after I went along. Half way through the shirt, I accidentally cut through my long rope of yarn so I decided to knit it up quickly into a dryer sheet. I was going to test the dryer sheet in my next load of laundry until I realized little fluffs of cotton began shedding off of the yarn as I knit away.
I’m assuming this has to do with how the fabric is made? The videos I watched also said that you could kind of curl the yarn (or it would spring back into a curl somehow) after cutting it, but this kind never did. Maybe there is just no elasticity left in the fabric. Nevertheless, I will have to try again with a different type of tshirt in the near future. I’d like to start making some upcycled merch for the shop before things get super busy.
Until then, it’s back to dishcloths!
